Motor-starting Reactor
Motor starting reactor helps limit the inrush current and the starting torque during the starting up of a large 3 phase motor. By doing so, the starting voltage of the motor can also be reduced, making it more efficient. Generally, motors are started with 70 % of voltage and the rest of the voltage, that is normally about 30 %, is dropped across the motor starting reactor. After 15 - 20 seconds, the reactor is switched off by contactors in the system.
